Video Conferencing Statistics 2026

76% of people aged 16 to 74 in the EU made telephone or video calls over the internet in 2025, according to Eurostat. In the U.S., 54% of remote-capable employees worked hybrid in August 2026 (Gallup) and 39% of workers worked from home at least some of the time in 2025 (Federal Reserve). Zoom reported $4,868.8 million in revenue for its fiscal year to January 2026, up 4.4%.

Analysis

This page brings together figures on video calling and video meetings: how many people make video calls, how telehealth uses video, how large the main business platforms are, how remote and hybrid work keep video meetings in daily use, and what meeting patterns and fatigue research show. Most figures describe 2025 and 2026 in the U.S., the EU and Great Britain. A few pandemic-era figures from 2020 and 2021 are included where no newer national measure exists and are labeled with their year.

Video calling is a routine use of the internet. Eurostat found that 76% of EU residents aged 16 to 74 made telephone or video calls over the internet in 2025. Health care is one of the clearest everyday uses: in the 2025 Colorado Health Access Survey, 32.6% of residents who sought care had a telemedicine visit and 70.8% of those users connected by video. The national U.S. figures on video calling and telemedicine on this page date from 2021.

Business platforms grow slowly and through larger customers. Zoom's revenue reached $4,868.8 million in fiscal 2026, up 4.4%, and it had 4,625 customers paying more than $100,000 a year by July 2026, up 8.2%, while its enterprise net dollar expansion rate stood at 99%. Microsoft last reported more than 320 million monthly Teams users in 2023 and now discloses add-ons such as 3 million Teams Premium seats; its 2025 telemetry shows the average user receiving 153 Teams messages per weekday.

Remote and hybrid work keep video meetings in daily use. Gallup found that 54% of U.S. employees with remote-capable jobs worked hybrid in August 2026 and 25% worked fully remote. The Bureau of Labor Statistics found 35% of employed people worked at home on days they worked in 2025, and the Federal Reserve found 39% of workers worked from home at least some of the time, with a wide gap by education. In Great Britain, the Office for National Statistics counted 28% of working adults in hybrid arrangements in autumn 2024.

Meeting habits are spreading across the day. Microsoft's 2025 telemetry shows 57% of meetings are ad hoc calls without a calendar invite and meetings after 8 pm rose 16% in a year, while 82% of employees in Owl Labs' 2025 survey want meetings to end by 4 pm. The costs of heavy video use were measured during the pandemic: Pew found 40% of video call users felt worn out at least sometimes in 2021, and Stanford researchers found 13.8% of women felt very or extremely fatigued after Zoom calls, against 5.5% of men.

Video calls in daily life and health care

Eurostat's 2025 survey gives the newest population-wide measure, but it combines internet voice and video calls, so it is an upper bound for video alone. Telehealth is the clearest everyday use of video outside work: the 2025 Colorado Health Access Survey shows about a third of residents who sought care used telemedicine and most of them connected by video. The national U.S. figures on video calling and telemedicine here date from 2021 and are labeled with their year.

Zoom

Zoom's filings show a mature business: revenue grew 4.4% in the fiscal year to January 2026, and growth now comes from larger enterprise customers rather than new individual users. A net dollar expansion rate just under 100% means existing enterprise customers are spending about the same as a year earlier. Zoom no longer reports meeting participant counts, so revenue and customer metrics are the best available indicators of its scale.

Remote and hybrid work behind video meetings

Video meetings are the default way remote and hybrid colleagues meet, so work location data are the best proxy for how much of the workforce depends on them. Gallup, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Federal Reserve all put regular home working at roughly a third or more of U.S. workers in 2025 and 2026, with a wide gap by education. Each survey defines remote work differently, so the shares are not interchangeable.

Meeting patterns, fatigue and AI

Microsoft's figures come from anonymized Microsoft 365 telemetry, so they describe users at organizations that use those tools, not all workers. They show meetings spreading across the day and across time zones. Owl Labs runs a vendor survey of office workers and its results should be read in that light. Research on video fatigue dates from 2021, when daily video use peaked, so those figures describe heavy users.

Frequently asked questions

How many people use video calls?

Eurostat found that 76% of EU residents aged 16 to 74 made telephone or video calls over the internet in 2025. In the U.S., Pew Research Center found in 2021 that 81% of adults had used video calls since the start of the pandemic.

How many people use Microsoft Teams and Zoom?

Microsoft last reported more than 320 million monthly active Teams users in 2023. Zoom does not publish user counts; it reported revenue of $4,868.8 million for the fiscal year to January 2026 and 4,625 customers paying more than $100,000 a year by July 2026.

Is video conferencing still growing after the pandemic?

Slowly. Zoom's revenue grew 4.4% in fiscal 2026 and its quarterly revenue grew 4.9% in the quarter to July 2026. Demand is supported by hybrid work: Gallup found 54% of U.S. remote-capable employees worked hybrid in August 2026, and the Federal Reserve found 39% of workers worked from home at least some of the time in 2025.

Is Zoom fatigue real?

Surveys from the pandemic suggest it affected a large minority of users. Pew found in 2021 that 40% of video call users felt worn out by calls at least sometimes, and a Stanford study of 10,322 people found 13.8% of women and 5.5% of men felt very or extremely fatigued after Zoom calls.

How common is telehealth by video?

The National Center for Health Statistics found that 37.0% of U.S. adults used telemedicine in 2021. In Colorado's 2025 Health Access Survey, 32.6% of residents who sought care had a telemedicine visit and 70.8% of those users connected by video.

Methodology

We used figures from statistical agencies and central banks (Eurostat, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Federal Reserve Board, the National Center for Health Statistics, the Office for National Statistics), survey organizations (Pew Research Center, Gallup, KFF, the Colorado Health Institute), university research (Stanford University), company filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (Zoom), company earnings calls and telemetry reports (Microsoft), and one vendor survey (Owl Labs). Each quote was rechecked against its source on 2026-11-04. Gallup's hybrid work indicator page is updated each quarter, so we cite an archived copy from November 3, 2026, and we cite a fixed revision of the Eurostat article. No official statistical series measures video meeting use directly, so work location data stand in for workplace demand, and Eurostat's call figure combines voice and video. Several health and fatigue figures date from 2020 and 2021, when video use peaked, and are labeled with their year. Company figures are self-reported, and Microsoft and Zoom no longer publish meeting participant counts.
